Introduction

Since its inception on 1st January 1994, South Dublin Libraries has been developing a Local Studies Collection. Picture South Dublin County is an exciting new resource of digitised visual material from this Local Studies Collection. The collection includes photographs, postcards, slides, prints, illustrations, maps, digital material, etc.

The catalogue includes some images where we do not own reproduction rights. These have been included as an aid to researchers searching for particular images.

The development of this site has been assisted with funding from the Department of the Environment, Heritage and LocalGovernment from the 2004 Information Society Fund

The database content and digitised content have been developed by the Local Studies Section at the County Library in Tallaght. Staff of South Dublin County Council's Computer Services Department have been most helpful in designing the database and in developing the Internet front end.

The database undoubtedly contains errors and omissions. If you notice any, please let us know so that we can make the necessary amendments. If you have any suggestions for how the site can be improved please let us know Some donated collections include material not relating to South Dublin County. This material has been included in order to ensure integrity of the collections.
